Stakeholders' Meeting on Developing a Framework for Promoting Implementation of Energy Efficiency Practices in Commercial Buildings across Hyderabad.
6th September 2010
Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad
This was the first workshop in this series to be held in collaboration by ASCI and NRDC.
The primary goal was to bring all the parties involved in Energy efficiency and buildings in Hyderabad together to a platform where the framework could be developed and discussed.
Hyderabad, with the extremely high growth rate and drastic change in built environment presents a high potential for locking in of Energy savings and was therefore chosen as the focus of this study.
The environmental building guidelines for Hyderabad that were brought out by the HMDA in 2009 and the high number of Green Commercial buildings rated by the IGBC display the commitment for Energy efficiency in the city.
In this context, various stakeholder groups were identified and invited to share their viewpoints and perspectives on the need, the urgency and the process in incorporating Energy efficiency measures in the building sector in Hyderabad.
Architects, developers, Energy efficiency experts, academicians and private organizations who have played an active role in the execution of these policies were present and a dialogue was thus initiated amongst the members.
It was decided that a study on the Hyderabad scenario to understand the perspectives and challenges faced for the adoption of energy efficiency by different key players was imperative in developing any framework for wider implementation of these practices.
