ASCI hosts a Round Table on “Eco Industrial Parks"
In collaboration with the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), ASCI has hosted a Round Table on “Echo Industrial Parks” on 31st October, 2009. The Round Table facilitated sharing of lessons learnt and experiences from the on-going efforts in developing Echo Industrial Parks. The participants in the Round Table included the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC), Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), GTZ, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and public and private companies involved in providing services such as CETPs, waste management facility, industrial park logistics, etc.
Mr B.P. Acharya, Chairman and Managing Director, APIIC, in his keynote address, emphasized the need to go beyond ‘tokenism’ to field actions. He said that APIIC is willing to develop services and industrial parks to world class standards. The Round Table discussed a number of themes related to the development of industrial infrastructure, management of environment, effluent treatment plant and cleaner production process. Other institutions that participated in the Round Table, included the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, GTZ, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and various public and private companies.
