B. S. Chetty, Ph.D. (IISc), Senior Faculty Member of the Operations Management Area started his career in an industry, and after two years joined ASCI in 1978. He has been trained by Asian Productivity Organization in management consultancy in Japan and worked as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Conducted several consultancy assignments for international organisations such as ILO, ICRISAT, The World Bank, and Government departments like DRDO, Ministry of Defense, ICAR, DGFT, NFC, Chennai Sea port, etc., and the corporate organisations like BDL, NTPC, DGFT, IOC, Shriram Refrigeration, etc. Developed and designed several programmes dealing with various aspects of strategic and operational issues in operations management. Certified as a Procurement Specialist Trainer by the World Bank, Washington DC, USA and United Nations Staff College. Conducted several programmes on Procurement Procedures, Financial Management & Disbursement Procedures for the World Bank aided projects that have been attended by senior officials of more than 120 projects funded by the World Bank from over 45 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America.
Current Interests
Academic interests include: Total quality management, quality management standards, project and logistics management, evaluation and impact studies, and strategic issues in operations management.
