Brief Profile After completing his thesis on methodological aspects of the cost-benefit analysis of irrigation projects, he began his career as a Research Associate at Glasgow University. He then moved to the Commonwealth Secretariat, London, where he was Project Officer in the Agriculture and Rural Development Division. There he was involved in Project Evaluation in Belize and Sierra Leone, Post Harvest Losses in the Caribbean, South and Eastern Africa and West Africa and Irrigation Management in South Asia. He returned to India as Associate Professor at the Center for Policy Research in 1979. After a ten-year long spell in industry as Managing Director, Uniloids Limited, he joined the College as Senior Faculty in the Public Policy and Systems Area. He has lead an ASCI Team studying the Food Corporation of India and the food management system. He is a consultant to the Government of Andhra Pradesh in his personal capacity. He worked with the Government of Andhra Pradesh on its Irrigation Sector Reform program. Dr Pingle has designed and was Program Director for the IAS Officers Course entitled "Re-fining and Re-defining the State" and Governance in the New Millennium" His interests are in economics & economic history.
