Brief Profile

Srinivas Chary, Chairman, EET Area at ASCI, has over 14 years of policy and operational experience in urban management and extensively dealt with municipal reforms, institutional development, municipal revenue improvement, change management, capacity building, PPP, community empowerment and service delivery to the poor. An engineer, urban planner, and management consultant, Chary has a strong combination of experience, expertise and project management skills and implemented large scale research and consulting assignments in urban management. He led over 90 research and consulting projects for national and international development agencies such as Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (MUD&PA), GoI, UN-Habitat, DFID, ADB, the World Bank, WSP-SA, UN-Habitat, in the areas of urban/municipal management particularly in water and sanitation, environmental service delivery to the poor, city development strategies, urban governance, private sector participation, institutional restructuring and change management. He closely interacts with decision makers of urban local bodies in formulating and implementing reforms and change management strategies. Chary played a key role in preparing policy and operational guidelines for the City Challenge Fund. He is the team leader of a prestigious assignment “Implementing municipal reforms in 11 class 1 towns” being supported by Andhra Pradesh Urban Services for Poor (APUSP)/DFID. He regularly organises capacity enhancement management development programmes for senior functionaries of municipalities and other urban professionals. He is a member of national and international bodies related to urban governance and environmental management.
