Dr. A. Narender, currently Professor and Area Chairperson, Infrasructure Development Area, CEEUGID has over 20 years experience in the urban sector and specializes in the areas of Urban Governance, Urban Poverty, Service Delivery, Urban Economic Policy and Management.
He holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from Osmania University and is a postgraduate of Economics from MS University. He also has a P.G.Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT.
Prior to joining ASCI, he was associated as a Member of Faculty with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and as a Member of Research Team with Human Settlement Management Institute, HUDCO, IIM-Ahmedabad and Vastu Shilpa Foundation, Ahmedabad.
Dr. Narender has worked extensively in the areas of City development strategies, Municipal reforms, Urban poverty reduction, and Service delivery with a focus on sanitation and integrated solid waste management. He was deeply involved in the conceptualization and implementation of City Development Plans / Strategies for Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. He has also undertaken comparative studies across Indian cities in the areas of Urban decay and Redevelopment.
He is associated with strengthening urban management and Certification in Urban Management Program delivered by ASCI in partnership with the World Bank Institute. He is also associated with the Change Management Forum and Management Development Program at ASCI.
He has published over 15 papers in professional journals and has worked on several consulting assignments on urban issues for various agencies.
