Prof. Umeshwar Pandey currently IPCL Chair Professor in Strategic Human Resource Management; Director, Centre for Management Studies, and Chairman, Human Resource Area, ASCI, has been with ASCI since 1973. He has pursued his
B A Hons. and Masters in Sociology from Patna University.

Prof. Pandey was on lien to ACTIONAID where he took up development initiatives in Bihar, West Bengal, North-East and Bhutan during 1995-96. Again on lien during 2000-01, he worked with Etiam Inc., California, US as Vice President (HR) designing HR Manual and Benefit Administration System.

He has provided consultancy support to a large number of organisations in India and abroad including United Nations in the areas such as Human Resource Policies & Planning, Human Resource Development, Assessment of Training Needs, Organisational Restructuring and Development of Systems & Procedures, etc. In addition to a large number of General Management Programmes he has designed and directed several training programmes in the areas of Strategic Human Resource Management, Strategic Industrial Relations Management, Effective Human Resource Training & Development, Human Resource Audit, Effective Trade Union Management, Leadership for Excellence etc.

Prof. Umeshwar has published several papers in the areas of Human Resource Development and Communication Network.

Current Interests

His current interests include HR Policy, Human Resource Planning, Human Resource Development, Manpower Assessment, Identification of Training Needs, Management of Employee Relations, Organisation Redesign and Restructuring.
