The need for professionally trained hospital managers is being increasingly felt in Indian hospitals, whether private or public, new or old, large or small metropolitan or not. This is largely due to growing recognition that performance levels of hospitals in various managerial and functional areas are falling short of standards that are known to be achievable.
ASCI-PGDHM Program: The ASCI Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Management is a two-year residential full time Programme offered by ASCI and recognized by AICTE. The Programme comprises four semesters, three semesters of residential training followed by one semester of internship training.
Course Curriculum: The Course curriculum has been designed to cover the conceptual and qualitative skills needed by administrators/managers in contemporary hospitals. While hospitals are at the core, the program also looks at associated sectors in the healthcare arena having direct interface with hospitals.
The Programme is rigorous and practice oriented with a teaching approach that combines classroom lectures with case studies, team discussions and presentations and field visits to a wide variety of hospitals. Unique combination of operational and strategic inputs, coupled with cross-functional perspective and application-orientation - prepare its graduates to make a mark for themselves in the industry.
Internship: During Internship, the participants undergo training for a minimum of sixteen weeks with a hospital or a healthcare organization. The internship is designed to help bridge the sometimes-significant gap between academic preparation and the field of practice.
Faculty: Faculty from the industry and other academic institutions complement the highly competent core faculty.
Placements: Participants who have completed the Programme have found placements in leading hospitals in the country and abroad. Institutions having ASCI alumni include Narayana Hrudalaya, Apollo Hospitals, Max Superspeciality, Wochardt, Fortis Healthcare, Infosys, Manipal Cure and Care, Bombay Hospital, ICICI Lombard, Medicity, Aravind Eye Hospital, Hosmac, Med-ium Consulting, Value Added Corporate Services and so on.
Location: Located at Hyderabad - the healthcare capital of the country – the institute provides the students excellent opportunity of doing live projects with hospitals of all kinds including single specialty, multi-specialty, super-specialty, corporate-hospitals, trust-hospitals, government hospitals.
Facilities: The programme is houses at the Center for Healthcare Management, ASCI at its College Park Campus at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Facilities include air-conditioned conference rooms, a well-equipped library, a modern computer centre, good hostel accommodation, dining and recreational facilities.
Eligibility: Graduates from any discipline, with a minimum 50% aggregate at graduation, are eligible for admissions. Candidates with a medical (MBBS, dental, physiotherapy, AYUSH) or life-sciences (including pharma) background are especially encouraged to apply.
Graduation results of all candidates must be available with the candidates latest by June 30, 2010 – failing which the candidate will not be allowed to join the program and the seat will then be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.
Admission Process: The admission process includes a Written test, to be followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
Last Date for Application: Application forms will be available on the ASCI website from Jan 25, 2010 – which may be downloaded, filled-up duly and sent to Center for Healthcare Management, ASCI along with a demand draft of Rs.750/- (drawn in favor of Administrative Staff College of India) by March 31, 2010 at the address below.

Written Test: ASCI will conduct its own written test – on April 25, 2010 - simultaneously at Hyderabad, Delhi and Kolkata.
Candidates having a valid MAT score need not write the ASCI-PGDHM test and can apply with the MAT score.
Group Discussion/ Personal Interview: Candidates short listed on the basis of the ASCI-PGDHM Entrance test / MAT Score will be called for group-discussion and personal interview at:
