Service Level Benchmarking - Raipur

Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), as technical partner in operationalizing the Service Level Benchmarking (SLB) framework, have organized a launch workshop for the core team officials from Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on 13th July, 09 at SUDA, Raipur to provide a detailed orientation about the initiative.

The launch workshop of the core team was organized with the purpose of discussing the SLB initiative and its framework. The focus areas were, to understand the need of SLB in current and future context, orientation of the core team members towards SLB and role of ASCI and the core team. Specific focus of the meeting included the following points:

  • To introduce the concept and rationale of benchmarking, and specifically present details of the SLB framework of Government of India (GoI) to the local core team members.

  • To discuss the details of the pilot initiative viz. objectives, scope implementation plan and expected outcomes.

  • Discuss approach to institutionalizing benchmarking, leading to systematic and continuous performance improvement

  • To facilitate detailed discussion on the issues and challenges in data collection, reliability issues, etc.

The agenda of the meeting constituted welcome address by Prof. S. Chary, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) conveying, the context & purpose of the meeting followed by discussions on SLB, approach & methodology and work program for SLB core team. Then the discussion continued on various aspects and relevant inference was drawn. The session concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Ravindra Prasad.

15 members participated in the meeting including representatives of RMC, SUDA and ASCI.
