Dr RESHMY NAIR is Associate Professor in the Centre for Poverty Studies and Rural Development, ASCI. She has graduated in Economics (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and holds M. Phil & Doctorate degrees in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
She has seven years of teaching, research and administrative experience in academic and corporate spheres. A UGC (Net) qualified academician with keen research interests, she has served as a Lecturer in reputed management institutes in Delhi NCR, specializing in teaching business economics and related subjects to graduate and post graduate students. Prior to joining ASCI, she was associated with Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd (set up by Government of India to exclusively cater to the insurance needs of the agricultural sector), wherein she handled various responsibilities in the technical, legal and operations area.
Dr Reshmy Nair has conceptualized, designed and directed customized training programmes on ‘Land Acquisition, Resettlement & Rehabilitation’ for the IAS Officers (sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India) and several public sector organisations like NTPC, NHPC, NHDC, Coal India, BRO etc. She has been delivering specialised sessions on Economics, Insurance, Resettlement and Rehabilitation in various management development programmes at ASCI.
She has also initiated capacity building, research and consultancy initiatives in the area of crop/weather insurance at ASCI. These initiatives include directing National Seminars on Weather Insurance/crop insurance, focused programmes on Index-based Weather Insurance for the insurance industry and partnering with Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India in building capacity of the senior state government officials in implementing crop insurance schemes
She has extensive research interests and has published several papers in reputed journals in the areas of food security, public distribution system and agriculture insurance.
