Profile

Prof. Vilas Shah currently Professor and Area Chairperson , Procurement Operations, Materials and Project Management and Information System Area, Centre for Management Studies, is M.Tech in Industrial Engineering from IIT Bombay, and a Mechanical Engineer from Pune University.

He also holds a Bachelors degree in Law from North Maharashtra University and has cleared inter ICWAI, and has recently been certified as Energy Auditor by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Govt. of India.

Prof. Shah has specialization in Procurement, Projects, Operations Management and Strategic Initiatives in start-up and high performance organizations.  He is currently engaged in consultancy of monitoring high-risk defense project with a proposal to develop new control parameters for monitoring Research Projects and has offered consultancy on various projects on Energy saving, Energy audits, Software development and Productivity improvement too. Prior to joining ASCI, he worked in several capapcities, on several prestigious projects.

A few of these are as under:

  • He worked in projects department of TELCO (Tata Motors) to set up press shop (Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd.) and also served for effectively managing startup of Engineering Institute as well as an automobile press shop.
  • He was responsible for operations leading a team of over 100 engineers.
  • He was Head of management team controlling an expenditure budget of Rs.40 Million in top-notch academic institution.

He has achieved substantial brand equity for the institute leading to top ranking in the state of Maharashtra.

Current Interests

His current areas of interest are Project Management Consultancy and training, Critical Chain management, The new technique for managing projects fast and under budget, Energy Audit, Inventory Management and modeling, Product Mix Optimization for maximization of profits, Distribution of products at minimum costs, Assignment at Resources to minimize overall cost.
