Dr. Usha Rani Vyasulu Reddi, currently Professor, Centre Director and Area Chairperson, Centre for Human Development, ASCI has extensive teaching and administrative experience and research expertise. She has been involved on an ongoing basis, in project design and development in education and communication technology application in various initiatives and projects from the formal higher education to the more non-formal adult, basic, open and distance education, both internationally and in India. Capacity building, Project Management, Material development and consultancy services have been a part of her wide professional portfolio.
With degrees in Political Science, Communication, Psychology and International Relations from Indian and foreign universities, Dr. Reddi was Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, Commonwealth of Learning, New Delhi, from 1998 to 2006. She worked in the specialized area of application of information and communication technologies to all sectors of education-formal, non-formal and open learning systems.
Prior to this, Dr. Reddi spent many years in teaching and research. She was responsible for establishing the Audio Visual Research Centre at Osmania University, Hyderabad, as well as in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluation of innovative technology applications in higher education in India between the 1980s and 1990s.
She worked in the specialized area of application of information and communication technologies to all sectors of education-formal, non-formal and open learning systems. She executed training programmes, developed knowledge resources and provided consultancy support for the open universities of South Asia, as also undertook specialized work for agencies such as are UNESCO, FAO, ICRISAT and DECU-ISRO.
Current Interests
Dr. Reddi’s current interests are to strategize educational administration to management to develop gender focused programmes and to work at policy making levels and in capacity building in the inter-related and intertwined areas of education, gender, and health.
