Dr. Yamini Atmavilas, Associate Professor and Area Chairperson, Gender Studies, Centre for Human Development, specializes in gender, work, migration, globalization and social development
She has just concluded coordinating a consultative process on labour, gender and human rights policy dimensions of international migration and published and submitted a report with recommendations to the Government of India. Her current work includes a consultancy evaluating advocacy initiatives of a HIV/AIDS project with sex workers in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She is also working on a monograph on transformations in gender and class identities and relations in post-liberalization India.
She is involved in capacity building in the areas of gender sensitization; gender in the workplace; gendering development planning, monitoring and evaluation; social impact analysis; and gender and development.
With a PhD from Emory University (USA), she has had a diverse professional trajectory having taught gender studies and development studies at Emory College, Atlanta, and at NMKRV College for Women, Bangalore, and worked on a number of gender and development related projects. She has also managed a professional learning and development certificate program for education administrators in the Emory College administration.
