Programme Objectives

  • Develop/ strengthen managerial and leadership attributes of women scientists and technologists
  • Provide an appreciation of emerging trends in Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Provide an informed perspective on the administration of Government S&T institutions
  • Provide a platform to women scientists to interact with peers from other S&T institutions, share their inspiring experiences and exchange constructive views and ideas



  • Structured learning inputs from faculty.
  • Interactive sessions with distinguished scientists, eminent technology managers & administrators.
  • Exposure visit to model R&D labs and S&T Training institutions
  • Experiential learning through outbound activities
  • Problem solving exercises, Case studies, Videos
  • Group presentations


Target Participants

The programme is designed for experienced women scientists and technologists of Grade ‘C’ to ‘G’ & Equivalent. The participants should have put in a minimum of 9 years of service (as Group A scientists). Scientists/Technologists can participate in the 2-week programme only once in a block of 4 years.

Women Scientists/Technologists working in the Department/Ministries of Central Government, Public Sector Units, Government Aided Research Institutes, Government Research Laboratories, Women Scientists and Academicians from State Governments, Women Scientists and Academicians from Central and State Universities, Educational Institutions and Colleges, engaged in R&D in any discipline of Science and Technology are included under the Plan Scheme ‘Disha Programme for Women in Science’.

Age of the applicants should not be more than 58 years as on 1st July 2018.

All nominations have to be strictly from the government sector only and nomination of applicants from private sector will not be accepted.
